At-Risk Students Pass the TAKS
Grand Prairie, TX
Bill Arnold Middle School
The Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) exam is taken each year by students in Texas public schools. In Grand Prarie, Texas, a group of 8th grade students were identified as being at-risk for not passing the TAKS exam. These students were enrolled in a 10 week TAKS preparation class in which Apangea Learning Math was utilized for 40 minutes per session. As a result, 73% of these students passed the TAKS in stark contrast to only 6.3% of these same students the previous year! In addition to the TAKS preparation class, students across Grand Prairie school district took initiative in their own learning and worked an additional 5,424 hours on nights and weekends on Apangea Learning Math over the span of 6 months.

Testimony
"What we saw out of the 8th graders- and again, they only had ten weeks to work on the system until they took the TAKS test… across the board, there was an increase of about 100 points on the TAKS from using Apangea Learning Math." -Kenneth King, Teacher
