Boston, MA

Codman Academy

At Codman Academy all 10th grade students were required to participate in an "Apangea Class" in an effort to raise scores to passing rates in the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS). Previously, Codman's MCAS average was significantly below the state average. A formative assessment was used to determine each student's area of weakness and then placed in an Apangea Math class over the course of a year. Codman Academy moved from being significantly below the state average for passing the MCAS to exceeding it within a year. 73% of Codman students demonstrated proficiency on the MCAS.
